SITE RULES
THE ISLAND Original RolePlay Literacy: Highly Intermediate - Advanced
1. Our site literacy is listed as intermediate -advanced. Writer's block sucks, and it happens to even the best of us, but try to keep each post to a minimum of three-hundred fifty words, although you should shoot for somewhere in the fourhundreds. Please, this rule will be enforced. The only way to make yourself a better writer is to push yourself even when you think you've giving all you've got. Also, our posting format is third person, past tense.
2. When it comes to canon characters, please make sure you can keep them active. Also, you may only claim one canon. Canons are special, so make your single choice count! Original characters are just as much fun as canons, and are just as welcome.
These are the main characters in the plot. They are in place for a reason. If you choose to apply for a cannon, then you need to understand that any relationships they are placed in, are for a reason. No - you cannot change their personality, No - you cannot change who their friend(s) / love interest(s) are. If you want full creative license then please feel free to create an original character. Cannon's and their pre-set ways are not up for discussion.
Cannon's are not always easy to play, they come pre-set. If you apply for a Cannon role, then please provide the best of your skills in the application. Cannon's set the mold for all other characters to come, they will be held to high standards. If you cannot handle a min post of 300 words, then playing a Cannon is not for you.
3. Be active. Do not join, make a character sheet, get accepted, and just leave. Seriously. It's not cool, it's not fun for us, and it's just a waste of time. You must post at least twice a week for originals, and at least four times a week for canons. If you go two weeks without posting the minimum, and have not posted a notice of absense, you will loose your character.
4. Please treat others how you would like to be treated. If you have issues with something, than please inform the site administration. Do not attempt to start a fight on the board, or voice your complaints in the CBox. This will lead to unpleasant consequences. We are here to play and have fun, it is expected that you conduct yourself in an adult manner.
5. All avatars placed on the site follow a specific pattern and will be provided for you. All signatures and other graphics should be no larger than 445 Pixels Wide and 200 Pixels Tall. This keeps our pages from being stretched.
6. Feel free to use the 'In Character Chat Box'. Only accepted characters are allowed into the in-character Chat Box. No using characters you just plan on making, or just have an application in the pending applications board for. If we find out you're pretending to be someone else's character in the Chat Box, there will be serious consequences. Actions that your character is making should be in some sort of symbol, such as in -'s or *'s. Text that is outside the symbols is dialogue (being said out loud). If you would like to employ an avatar, and we hope you do, the dimensions for them are 50 px by 50 px.
