When I first came across this site I really wanted to take part in it because I really liked the concept and it was something I've never seen before. I’ve literally spent days working on this character because I wanted to create an interesting yet suitable character for this site. I’ve never spent so much time working on a character site so you can be rest assured that I will be very active on this site. This character was originally inspired by Sun but then somewhere along the way I decided to take this character in an entirely different direction and so this is the end result.
Madeline was raised by a single mother for most part of her life. Her father walked out on them when she was only four years old without any explanation. For years, Madeline had hoped that her father would return with a reasonable explanation as to why he left. Madeline had even imagined outrageous stories such as her father was probably part of the C.I.A. and had to go away on an important top secret mission or maybe he had been kidnapped but is still very much alive. As the years passed by, Madeline still had hope that her father would return but with the passing years, the stories became more reasonable and realistic. Whenever Madeline brought up the topic of her father to her mother, her mother would get irritated and seem annoyed by Madeline for it was a topic she did not want to think or talk about.
When she was sixteen, Madeline decided to stop waiting for her father to return and go out and search for him. Based on the information that she already knew about him, Madeline was able to track him down and find out that he was living in Tennessee. It took Madeline months to gather up the courage to go and visit her father. When she arrived at Tennessee, Madeline parked outside of his house for what seemed like hours before she was able to gather up the courage to go inside and talk to him. Madeline eventually went in to meet her father after what seemed like years. While she was there, she found that her father was reluctant to talk to her and just wanted her to leave but Madeline was stubborn and refused to leave until she got the information she had waited her whole life to know. Eventually her father caved in.
Her father explained to her that he was constantly arguing with her mother and felt as if his life was heading no where. He was too young when they had gotten married and he was beginning to feel as if he was missing out on his young life. Soon the pressure got to him, he felt that he needed to get a way. As soon as he left, he left town and moved to Tennessee for that was where his best friend lived for he was going to help him out. He did not mean to never return but soon days turned into months and months turned into years and during that time he met and fell in love with someone; someone who he would choose over his own wife and child. Two years after he had walked out on them, he filed for divorce so that he can marry this other woman. Her father then went on to confess that his new wife and child had no idea about the family he had left behind and he did not want them to find out at all.
This painful realization that her father had never meant to return and how he wanted nothing to do with her felt like a knife to her heart. This also left a bruise in her self-esteem because her train of thought was if her very own father wanted no part of her in his life then what could be said about anyone else for that matter. Since then Madeline has been through a couple of dysfunctional relationships; in particularly her relationship with Vincent. Vincent was only three years older than Madeline and she was madly in love with him; hey had been dating for two years prior to the plane crash. In the course of those two years, Vincent had managed to cheat on her three times as far as Madeline knew and has beaten her six times while he was under the influence of alcohol. Since they happened so infrequently, Madeline was able to forgive him for each offense. In fact, Madeline was still dating him during the time she boarded the plane.
I know a history was not necessary but it would play a large part in who Madeline is before she winds up on the island and how she would develop. Now I will explain Madeline’s overall personality so that you would have an idea as to how she would interact with the other castaways.
Madeline can be quite naïve when it comes to believing something that she wants to hear. For example, Madeline always believed her boyfriend when he said that he was sorry and that he would never hurt or cheat on her again yet there was always another offense. Madeline is also a very optimistic girl and she would look on the bright side of things and never give up hope of being rescued while on the island. I wanted to start Madeline off as being submissive and weak minded but as time progressed on the island she would begin to grow confident and strong. Madeline is also not the type to just sit still and be useless so Madeline would do whatever she can to be of some use.

(This roleplay sample was written almost a year ago at a Harry Potter site I used to be active on. It is not exactly my best work but I hope this would do.)
Lauren needed a place to be alone. She had just gotten a letter from her father and she did not want to open it up with many people around. She had a feeling that the contents of the letter will make her well up in tears or make her angry. But it sure would not be a good reaction. Lauren despised her father for cheating on her mother and for leaving them to live with his mistress Summer. This had all occurred when she was nine years old but it has been five years and her mother was still an emotional wreck blaming her father for everything. Her father had been living with Summer and now is when they decide to get married. Lauren wondered what took them so long since they already had a son, Ian, together.
Lauren clutched the letter from her father in her hand looking for a decent place to be alone. Lauren walked around aimlessly around the castle looking for a remotely quiet area when she passed an empty classroom. Then it hit her that the perfect place to go could be the classroom. Lauren rewinded and went back in the direction of the classroom. She opened the door just a bit to peek inside to make sure no one was inside. The coast was clear so she entered the classroom. The classroom was dark and the only light was the sun light that streamed in through the window. Lauren absent mindedly left the door ajar as she crossed the room to the window.
Lauren took a seat a top of an vacant desk and stared at the letter in her hands. The letter was a bit crumpled by the way she clutched it but she did not care because she was probably going to crumple it up or light it on fire when she was done reading it. What did he have to say to her? Was he going to tell her that he was leaving Summer for her mother? Lauren may have wanted that back when she was nine years old but now she believes her mother could do much better. Well not exactly she thought her mom should move on and forget about men in general because her father at some point was the perfect man but something changed along the way. So if her father can not be faithful and love his wife forever than what man can? None. Lauren took a deep breathe and then tore open the letter.Dearest Lauren,
I would like to be the first to tell you that I that Summer and I are engaged and we will be getting married this winter while you are on vacation. We were hoping that you would take part in the wedding as a bride’s maid. I suggested to Summer to make you her maid of honor but she wanted to give that position to her Tammy. You remember Tammy right? I hope you will accept the position although I know you have been displeased with me during the last few years but I want you to remember that whatever happened with your mother had nothing to do with you. I still love you as much as I did then. It really would mean a lot to me if you would be apart of our wedding.
Love,
Your Father
Elliot Davis
"Oh sure I'll be a brides maid, as soon as hell freezes over." Lauren did not approve the wedding so why on earth would she be in the wedding. She hated her father and wanted as little to do with him as possible. As soon as she graduated Hogwarts, she would make sure that she would never have to visit him again. Out of rage, Lauren crumpled the letter and threw it across the room. She took out her wand from within her robes and pointed it at the letter. "INCENDIO!" The letter caught on fire. Lauren couldn't help but smirk at the sight of her father's letter burning into ashes. But what Lauren did not expect was for the flames to get high. "Uh oh!" She ran over to try to stop the flames but they were just getting larger.
What was she going to do? She remembered learning sometime in Charms a spell that made water shoot out from the point of the wand. 'Whats the bloody spell for water?!" Lauren was frantically search her brain for the spell. "Waterficus! Water! Agua! Aguamany!, Aqua! If someone were to find her here they would assume she was trying to set the school on fire but if she did not stop the fire soon enough she could be trapped within the classroom. The flames began to spread and had blocked the door. Lauren hoped that someone, anyone would come. "HELP!" she screamed hoping someone would hear her ”SOMEBODY HELP ME!”
