Hey Jay, it’s Brice. I’ll be reapplying with this character and Tom shortly after.
It’s important to realize his history and where he’s coming from first to know why he is like he is and how he’s going to act in the future.
Brent is a military man and he doesn’t hide it from others either. His past starts when he was born in Santa Ana to Christian missionary parents. Although he was born in El Salvador he was given United States Citizen ship on his birth through connections his family had politically in the states. When Brent was four his parents were killed by left wing militants that suspected his parents of being spies for the government. Brent escaped death by hiding at a friend’s house in their closet at the time. Shortly after he was adopted by Christian evangelicals that lived in Hart, Texas, his new childhood home. Just being a child he barley understood death but just old enough to be devastated by the loss. By this point he only has small, short, and fond, memories of his parents.
His new stepfather was the minister at the Southern Baptist church who had a large family that he all pushed religion on since they were young. Although he believed in god when he was younger, he knew no other way of life, when he got to high school he started to realize his foundation of what he believed wasn’t as strong as he once though. As soon as he had doubt his stepfather was furious at the questions he was asking. His stepfather forced him into personal sessions with the youth minister who suggested to his stepfather that Brent needed something to distract him, so Brent joined the football team. While on the team he loved being apart of something honorable and in unity with others, so it was no surprise to anybody that he joined the military as soon as he graduated from high school. He was a top soldier but the army already had a lot of those so he spent the majority of his time guarding things overseas while getting shot at. His job wasn’t that appealing and eventually he asked for an honorable discharge feeling he had no use as part of the army. They granted it to him knowing his enthusiasm towards a task was minimal.
Afterwards the organization Blackwater approached him and asked him to join their organization. He accepted after they told him he would go on missions and do more exciting things then guard offices. While apart of Blackwater he learned a lot about being a top soldier but also did a number of things he isn’t proud of and keeps to himself. Some of it he wanted by authorities for, they just don’t know it was him so he has secrets in his past. He was on leave in vacation while on the flight that crashed.
Brent is an honorable man who believes in a ranking system over everything else in order to keep control. To get any power a person has to join the ranking system and respect those above them. Which is why whenever in a new scenario the first thing Brent does it look for who thinks to be the strongest leader and follow them. He has a sort of policing style to his personality, making others follow the leader he wants as well and can be quite bossy. Since he’s mostly around others younger then him on the island he’s a little arrogant and thinks he has authority of them. At the same time though he’s very smart so when people start to fear for their lives he’s the first one to turn to, knowing well that he has his eyes and ears on the entire time fully alert.
Although he may not have great people skills he’s also a smart guy that knows his stuff when it comes to building, hunting, ect so as much as some people don’t like him being bossy he does have his uses. He usually likes to know what’s going on all the time and always asks a ton of questions, even if not in private in front of everyone. In his opinion he doesn’t see how keeping secrets from each other would help anybody but that could change over him.
Pick me because he’ll bring drama and plot, but stability to the islanders. The doc needs a good trusty loyal close ally who can act as an enforcer at times and Brent is that perfect officer. He also has a lot of very dark secrets from his work with Blackwater which gives him the whole ‘something in his history’ your looking for in each character.

(I’ll put this as my first post as well)
Everything on the trip before the accident was so peaceful on the whole trip there. There were a lot of teenagers on the trip and he giggled at the majority of them that couldn’t take advantage of the liquor cabinet like he personally could. He even bought a few of those small bottles of whiskey that he shoved into his pocket and planned on drinking later. He wasn’t an alcoholic; he just took advantage of small moments such as those.
While ordering another shot of whiskey though turbulence was suddenly felt. Everyone was ordered to do up their seatbelts and the turbulence got worse. Before anybody, including Brent, had any time to think about the situation they were already plummeting to the ground. The facemasks fell from the ceiling. Only briefly he heard the scream of others before everything went out of control and the plane split into two in the air. Thinking he was about to die he rolled his eyes. ”Not here! Not now!” As his half of the plane seemed to hit ground everything went blank for him as he body went flying from his seat, up high into the air, and crashing hard on the sand as he was unconscious.
What first woke Brent up was a piece of shrapnel that had come flying off the plane shortly after fly right into Brent’s calf on his leg as he laid facedown in the sand. When it happened he went to jump up but feeling the pierce in his leg he could move without any sharp pain. He instead rolling over and lifted his leg up to look at the piece of metal now stuck in him. He looked at it for a couple of seconds as if the whole thing was interesting, wondering what it even came from, before grabbing the part sticking out of his leg and pulling the piece out hard. As let out a scream as pain covered his body and then looking at where the piece use to be he saw a deep cut. It was going to infect later if he didn’t do anything about it. Going into his pockets he hoped he still had his belongings and noticed that he had a face clothing he was carrying with him. Taking the cloth he tied it around his leg for the blood to absorb it for the time being.
Finally, still sitting down, Brent started to think about his surrounding and could hear screams and a number of other loud sounds in the area. He looked over to the beach to see remains of airplane everywhere along dead and injured bodies. Some people seemed better off then others and were walking around dazed and confused or screaming for help. Some people were swimming to the shore from the direction of other thick black smoke, obviously the other half the plane. ”Fuck. This isn’t good.” He then could hear the shrill screaming of a girl near to him. Turning his head that direction not 10 feet from him he could see one girl who didn’t get as lucky as him with the shrapnel. She had some jammed into her bottom part of the stomach and was heavily bleeding. Crawling over to her, he had trouble getting up on his leg, he looked down at her as she continued to scream. ”Your going to be okay, stay with me. Your with me right?” She nodded her head and he started to put pressure on the wound to keep the blood in. She started to drift off and he started to yell at her. ”Stay with me!” As he said that he could tell she died as all her limb movements gave up. Feeling her pulse he could tell it stopped and there was no hope. ”Shit.”
Standing up he almost fell down again when he put pressure on that leg so he took his time to get off the ground. Then surveying the scene he started to look for other injured in the area. Or at least people that would need help.
